" The Sweet Science of boxing teaches you how to generate maximum power when striking. When an aggressor is advancing on you, teeth clenched, eyes filled with rage, you need to be able to interrupt their thought process. You want to change their thoughts of "I'm going to hurt you" into "Uh Oh, I'm going to get hurt". The fastest and most effective way to force that mental switch is a powerful, pinpoint strike that shakes their confidence. To accomplish this you have to be able to avoid getting hit and react without thinking. The ideal is to exit the situation before you have to use your training, but sometimes there is no exit except through the attacker. Training boxing skills will give you the power to un-crazy a crazed person. 
Boxing for Self Defense Class Teaches:
A boxing session is also a complete workout. During a boxing class you will work your core, legs, arms, cardio, and most importantly your mind when it is fatigued. You will learn to avoid being hit, create angles to open up striking targets, and how to draw your opponent into a "I'm putting you to sleep" trap. The classes will develop your balance, teach you to use leverage, and how to be mentally crisp when the world around you is on fire. If you ever have to use your training the mental toughness boxing develops will give you an edge.
